Update, August 2017: Uncle Peter began a series at the Hiram Chittenden Locks (Ballard Locks), which took place every Friday at 11:15am beginning August 11th and ran through the end of September.

 

Update, May 2017: The middle school students at Orca K-8 performed The Longest Darkest Night for Marletta’s class in the school library, complete with make up and costumes!

The short film version of the play is in production, and instead of claymation the students have decided to use stop-motion animation of paper cut-outs. Here is one of the production stills:

Uncle_Peter_kids_The_Longest_Darkest_Night

The_Longest_Darkest_Night_Run_Through_Play

In March Donte’s students did their first run through of The Longest Darkest Night in Marletta’s class and the kids loved it! This month the students are learning how to move like an animal with leaders at the Audubon society and will do another performance for the kids the very next day. We also hear that the claymation film version of the story is getting underway! Stay tuned!

(February 9, 2017) The creative team behind the short film for “The Longest Darkest Night” – Uncle Peter, Donte Felder, Annabelle and Kabir – who is working on storyboards for the film – after their latest creative meeting.

The script and storyboards are coming along nicely. Kabir has decided to use clay instead of Lego for the stop-action film and plans are to stage a version of the play for Marletta’s class at the beginning of March. Stay tuned!

(January 20, 2017) Donte Felder, head teacher at Orca K-8 School in Seattle, is busy putting his creative and technical team together, working on the theatrical play version of “The Longest, Darkest Night”!

Here Donte is pictured with Annabelle who will be writing the screenplay for a short film version of the story, featuring stop-action animation using Lego!  We’re excited to see the progress and will continue to update this news page as things develop!

(November 28, 2016) Uncle Peter  is currently working with Donte Felder, head teacher at Orca K-8 School in Seattle, to turn “The Longest, Darkest Night” into a play!

Donte will also be working closely with his students to help design props and suggest set and stage direction that will help make staging the play easy for anyone and any budget.

Thank you Donte and Orca K-8 School! We can’t wait to see “The Longest, Darkest Night” come to life!
